Worcestershire Aqua Park
Aztec Adventure Ltd are very grateful to the European Agricultural Fund For Rural Development < EAFRD > which has provided a grant towards the cost of purchasing the Aqua Park. Without this financial support the Aqua Park would not have been opened this year.
We are extremely appreciative of the guidance and support provided by the staff of the Worcestershire LEADER Programme < in particular Katie Ainsworth and Lucy Mayo who have been outstanding at every stage of the grant application process > , the Worcestershire Local Action Group < LAG > who considered and approved the grant application and Worcestershire County Council which is the Accountable Body responsible for overseeing the work of the LAG
The creation of the Aqua Park very much reflects the priorities of LAG to support small businesses, develop local distinctiveness and improve access to employment and training, with a particular focus on young people. To date 8 young people from Worcestershire have been appointed as part time seasonal Lifeguards and a further 5 young people again from Worcestershire appointed as part time seasonal Crew members for this unique attraction in Worcestershire. It is also anticipated that the Aqua Park will provide a boost to the local economy around Wychbold and hopefully will contribute to the development to tourism in North Worcestershire.
Worcestershire Council operates under delegated authority from the Secretary of State for the Environment Food and Rural Affairs < DEFRA > acting through the Rural Payments Agency.
LEADER funding is jointly provided through the EARFD and DEFRA . DEFRA acts as Managing Authority for LEADER and is ultimately responsible for the management of the scheme.
